Bombshell: Political Consultant Leaves Wife, Son Amid Affair With Ilhan Omar

Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar is reportedly at the center of an embroiled divorce between 38-year-old political consultant Timothy Mynett and his wife Beth Mynett, who is the medical director for the D.C. Department of Corrections.

Timothy Mynett has “worked for Omar’s campaign and been paid tens of thousands of dollars,” MPR News reports.

Their ongoing professional relationship has reportedly segued into one more romantic in nature and Beth Mynett is seeking a divorce. She claims her husband is having an affair with the congresswoman, Fox News reports.

Check it out:

Beth Mynett, 55, submitted divorce papers in Washington, D.C., Superior Court on Tuesday, saying her husband, Tim Mynett, 38, informed her earlier this year that he was having an affair with Omar.

The couple lived together for six years before getting married in 2012. They have a 13-year-old son.

“It is clear to Plaintiff that her marriage to Defendant is over and that there is no hope of reconciliation,” the filing stated.

Fox News reports the court filing said: “The parties physically separated on or about April 7, 2019, when Defendant told Plaintiff that he was romantically involved with and in love with another woman, Ilhan Omar, who serves as a U.S. representative from Minnesota.”

According to the filing, Beth was willing to fight for her own marriage and was willing to forgive and move past the affair, but Timothy objected: “Although devastated by the betrayal and deceit that preceded his abrupt declaration, Plaintiff told Defendant that she loved him and was willing to fight for the marriage. Defendant, however, told her that was not an option for him.”

Beth Mynett is also seeking primary custody of their 13-year-old son, citing Tim’s “sporadic” involvement with him.

Here’s more, from the report:

The news of the divorce filing, first seen in the New York Post, comes just over a month after it was reported that Omar had separated from her husband and father of her three children, Ahmed Hirsi, and moved into a luxury penthouse in Minneapolis.

Omar’s campaign has paid Tim Mynett’s E. Street group around $230,000 for fundraising consulting, digital communications, Internet advertising and travel expenses since 2018, records showed. The 37-year-old congresswoman was spotted back in March with Mynett at a California restaurant.

“Defendant’s more recent travel and long work hours now appear to be more related to his affair with Representative Omar than with his actual work commitments,” the court filing read.

A new FEC complaint filed on Wednesday morning alleges the combined $223,000 constitutes a campaign finance violation.

The Daily Caller reports the National Legal and Policy Center bars campaign officials from using their campaign funds for personal use—such as the case of flying in a participant in an extra-marital affair for the candidate’s leisure.

From the report:

Omar’s campaign disbursed $21,547 to cover travel expenses for E. Street Group across eight payments from April through June, FEC records show. Tim Mynett, 38, is a partner with the company, according to his LinkedIn profile and is one of the company’s governors, according to business filings submitted D.C. Department of Consumer and Regulatory Affairs.

The timing of the Omar campaign’s travel reimbursements to E. Street Group coinciding with the start of Omar’s alleged affair with Tim Mynett is suspect, according to an FEC complaint filed Wednesday by the conservative National Legal and Policy Center (NLPC).

“If Ilhan for Congress reimbursed Mynett’s LLC for travel so that Rep. Omar would have the benefit of Mynett’s romantic companionship, the expenditures must be considered personal in nature,” NLPC said in its complaint.

It should come as no surprise that the Congresswoman does not wish to discuss her personal life, the nature of the divorce, or her campaign’s potentially wrongful spending:
