Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has become the first major figure on the Left to speak out against the impeachment process.
As House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff are relentlessly seeking to undermine the president—casting aside a fair, transparent, and honest process—Biden said the country should not be forced to go through an impeachment process “if it can be avoided.”
The Washington Examiner reports that during a fundraiser on Monday night, Biden said: “We have to preserve our Constitution, our democracy [but] I don’t take impeachment lightly. I’ve been there for two. I don’t think it’s anything a country should have to go through if it can be avoided.”

According to the report, Biden’s new position is a major flip from previous claims he made during that Trump ought to be impeached.
“Donald Trump has violated his oath of office, betrayed this nation, and committed impeachable acts,” Biden said earlier this month during a rally in New Hampshire, the Washington Examiner also reports. “To preserve our Constitution, our democracy, our basic integrity, he should be impeached.”
“We all laughed when he said he could stand on Fifth Avenue and shoot someone and get away with it,” he said. “No joke! He’s shooting holes in the Constitution and we cannot let him get away with it.”
“This isn’t a game, it’s deadly serious. The United States cannot afford to have a president who will abuse whatever power is available them to get reelected,” Biden continued. “He’s basically a coward, he’s afraid. He’s afraid about just how badly I will beat him next November.”
