At least one individual has been detained after he stabbed multiple people near the London Bridge, London Police declared.
The Associated Press reports police were initially responding “to a stabbing at premises near to London Bridge” when they found the suspect and shot him.
The Metropolitan Police force confirms “a man has been detained by police. We believe a number of people have been injured.”
It is unclear at this time how many people were injured prior to law enforcement arriving on the scene. The suspect has not been identified and it is also unclear what condition he is in.

USA Today adds:
BBC reporter John McManus was in the area and said he saw figures grappling on the bridge. He said: “I thought it was initially a fight,” but then shots rang out.
London Ambulance Service said it had crews on the scene.
Police could be seen ushering people away from the northern end of the bridge, which links the city’s business district with the south bank of the River Thames.
City of London Police, the force responsible for the business district, urged people to stay away from the area.

During the incident, the Metropolitan Police tweeted that they were treating the incident “as though it is terror-related.”
Police were called at 1:58pm to a stabbing at premises near to London Bridge.
Emergency services attended, including officers from the Met and @CityPolice.

A witness at the scene described the situation as “one of extreme confusion.”

Conservative Party Parliamentary candidate for Witham & Home Secretary Priti Patel responded to the incident in a social media post where she said she was “very concerned by the ongoing incident at London Bridge.”
“My thoughts are with all affected. I am grateful for the rapid response of our police and I urge everyone to follow their advice,” she added.
