‘He Should Be Very Careful With His Words:’ Trump Responds To Latest Iranian Barb

President Trump and Iranian Leader Ali Khamenei traded barbs over Twitter on Friday, both appealing to the Iranian people in their tweets.

“The villainous US govt repeatedly says that they are standing by the Iranian ppl. They lie,” the Iranian leader said, sharing a picture of a tweet that Trump sent last week. “If you are standing by the Iranian ppl, it is only to stab them in the heart with your venomous daggers.”

“Of course, you have so far failed to do so, & you will certainly continue to fail,” the Iranian leader added.

In Trump’s initial tweet, he commended “the brave, long-suffering people of Iran,” saying: “I’ve stood with you since the beginning of my Presidency, and my Administration will continue to stand with you. We are following your protests closely, and are inspired by your courage.”

“The threat of the French & German govts & the vicious British govt to send Iran’s case to the Security Council proved once again that they are the footmen of the US,” the Iranian leader added in another tweet. “These 3 countries are the ones who helped Saddam as much as they could in his war against us.”

President Trump fired back later Friday afternoon, addressing Khamenei by his formal title, the “Supreme Leader” of Iran.

“The so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ of Iran, who has not been so Supreme lately, had some nasty things to say about the United States and Europe,” Trump said, before addressing how their government has been treating their own people. “Their economy is crashing, and their people are suffering. He should be very careful with his words!”
