Tens Of Thousands Gather For March For Life Rally And Trump’s Historic Attendance

President Trump is set to become the first-ever U.S. president to attend the 47th annual  March For Life rally in Washington, D.C.

The March For Life rally often features tens of thousands of participants, marching to celebrate the sanctity of life through the streets of the nation’s capital as well as meeting with members of Congress.

March For Life President Jeanne Mancini announced Trump’s participation.

“We are deeply honored to welcome President Trump to the 47th annual March for Life,” Mancini said, as Breitbart reports. “He will be the first president in history to attend and we are so excited for him to experience in person how passionate our marchers are about life and protecting the unborn.”

“From the appointment of pro-life judges and federal workers, to cutting taxpayer funding for abortions here and abroad, to calling for an end to late-term abortions, President Trump and his administration have been consistent champions for life and their support for the March for Life has been unwavering,” she added.

Trump’s attendance this year is a step up from him previously addressing the pro-life rally via a video address.

Breitbart News adds:

The event will feature many others speakers on the mall beginning at noon Eastern time ahead of the 1 p.m. march to the steps of the U.S. Supreme Court, including Jim Daley, president of Focus on the Family, Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of Susan B. Anthony List, Elisa Martinez founder of the New Mexico Alliance for Life, David Platt, pastor of McLean Bible Church, Rep. Katrina Jackson (D-LA), Rep. Chris Smith (R-NJ), Melissa Ohden, survivor of a failed saline infusion abortion, and Claire Culwell, survivor of a failed surgical abortion.

The participants’ message is simple: unborn individuals ought to be protected in the womb.

“The right to life is a human right,” the March For Life states on their webpage. “Our defense of that right is a joyful witness to the beauty and dignity of every human person.”

Vice President Pence and several members of Congress expressed their own support for the historic rally online.

“Today, President @realDonaldTrump will become the first President to attend the @March_for_Life! Our Administration will fight every day to protect the precious and innocent lives of the unborn,” the vice president said in a tweet.

Lousiana Congressman Steve Scalise added: “We march to say every life matters. We march to say innocent life is worth protecting. We march to say we will always fight for the unborn. We march to say taxpayers shouldn’t fund Planned Parenthood.”
