President Trump swiped both men leading the Democratic primary during a town hall event in Pennsylvania on Thursday evening.
The president did not hold back in his comments, questioning Joe Biden’s gaffes and the prospect of Bernie Sanders actually winning the nomination.
During the Fox News town hall in Scranton, BizPac Review reports Trump was asked which of the two men he was looking forward to debating and running against in the general election.
The president quickly said he was “all set for Bernie,” who he also referred to as a “communist.”
“And then we have this crazy thing that happened on Tuesday, which he thought was Thursday,” he continued, referencing Biden’s occasional mix-up of the days of the week and sparking a laugh from the audience. The comment also referenced Super Tuesday and Biden’s victories across most of the 14 states which participated.
Trump kept his attention on Biden, criticizing his stance on guns and his most recent gaffes.
“But he also said 150 million people were killed with guns, and that he was running for the U.S. Senate,” Trump continued, per BizPac Review. “There’s something going on there.”
Trump then swiped former presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren for dropping out after Super Tuesday.
“If she’s a true Progressive, which probably she is, she should have dropped out three days ago. It would’ve been a whole different race,” he said, noting she probably took votes away from Sanders.
“Bernie Sanders would have won five, six, seven states,” the president claimed. “When you look at it, she did him no favors. That was not a good friendship. We started to see that during the debates, by the way. It became unhinged.”
“She didn’t even have to endorse him, if she just dropped out of the race without an endorsement, he would’ve won a tremendous number of states that he lost, he lost states by not very much and she got enough votes that it would’ve made a big difference,” Trump concluded. “I think he would be leading by a lot right now had she not been in the race.”
Trump then returned to hammering Biden:
The president was asked if he thought Biden is “damaged” because of the Democrats’ impeachment proceedings against him triggered by a phone call with the president of Ukraine.
“They aimed at Trump and they took Biden down,” Trump said.
“Here’s a guy, who didn’t have a job, unfortunately sadly the military was a very sad experience for him — he goes out and gets $3 million plus $183,000 a month to be a board member of a company that a lot of people said was corrupt,” he continued. “Just as bad, China — I just made a great China deal … His son walks out a China for a billion-and-a-half dollars for a fund.”
