CNN Host Continues To Praise Trump Amid Backlash: ‘He Is Being The Kind Of Leader That People Need’

CNN anchor Dana Bash is continuing to brave the storm of criticism as she heaps praise on President Trump for his response to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

During a CNN panel on Tuesday morning, Bash said a presser held by Trump and the Coronavirus Task Force the day before was “remarkable.”

“If you look at the big picture, this was remarkable by the President of the United States,” Bash said during a panel discussion on “CNN Right Now.”

“This is a nonpartisan, this is an important thing to note and to applaud, from an American standpoint, from a human standpoint,” Bash continued.

“He is being the kind of leader that people need, at least in tone, today and yesterday, in tone, that people need and want and yearn for in times of crises and uncertainty,” she added.

Verified Twitter liberal Erick Fernandez swiped Bash over the comments, saying he did not think Trump’s reaction should be praised.

“I am going to lose my mind,” Fernandez said in a pair of posts. “Just this morning he was attacking state governors on Twitter. What on earth is wrong with you, Dana Bash? I feel like I’m in the twilight zone and he’s getting celebrated for not doing his usual mudslinging. But he’s still doing it on Twitter!”

“Here is the clip of Dana Bash praising Trump because he’s not screaming at reporters and going on absolute tantrums like he normally does. I feel like I’m living on another planet,” the liberal added.

Bash responded to Fernandez and, unmoved by the backlash, doubled down on her positive remarks.

“As I said in the clip you posted below, this is a moment to be non-partisan, American and human – & the TONE the president set at today & yesterday’s PRESSERS were remarkably different and welcomed,” the CNN host said. “That’s a fact.”

“Let’s all take a breath and remember we are all in this together,” Bash added.
