NPR Correspondent Mara Liasson has caused some controversy online after she compared the Allied forces who participated in the D-Day invasion to Antifa, the “terrorist organization” that regularly holds violent demonstrations to protest the government.
“Biggest antifa rally in history,” she tweeted.
Biggest antifa rally in history. https://t.co/ypa46PvYx1

The tweet did not go over well at all, especially as Antifa members continue to hold violent protests in major cities across the country after the killing of George Floyd.
Here’s how some people responded to the tweet:
This is such a heartbreakingly inaccurate comparison. I know you know that.

This is a repugnant tweet, Mara.

Mara, if Antifa & DDay Troops are the same, then why did they deface their own memorial in DC this week? https://t.co/E9ZJlCLeKv

Comparing the Patriotic Americans who stormed the beaches of Normandy with the Antifa Marxists who are trying to destroy America is absolutely vile.

@BretBaier is this an appropriate take from one of your panelists? It's repulsive, to be frank.

she compares those who fought Hitler to the people who burned low income housing to the ground. she compared your grandparents to whomever killed a retired police chief. https://t.co/6p4BMuzR50

They didn't land in Normandy to beat shop owners with 2x4s.

This comparison is obscene. The heroes of D-Day have nothing in common with the Communist scum of Antifa, which had its origins in Stalinism pic.twitter.com/jgjkWBM43o
