The “noose” that NASCAR’s Bubba Wallace claimed to have seen in his car garage at the Talladega Superspeedway was just a garage door pull rope.
After the FBI conducted an investigation into the matter, they confirmed Wallace, NASCAR’s only black driver, “was not the target of a hate crime.”
Breaking: The FBI has determined that Bubba Wallace was not the victim of a hate crime and that a pull rope fashioned like a noose had been on a garage door at Talladega since as early as last fall, NASCAR said Tuesday. https://t.co/D5mLTZHgVC

“The FBI report concludes, and photographic evidence confirms, that the garage door pull rope fashioned like a noose had been positioned there since as early as last fall. This was obviously well before the 43 team’s arrival and garage assignment. We appreciate the FBI’s quick and thorough investigation and are thankful to learn that this was not an intentional, racist act against Bubba,” NASCAR said in a statement of their own, following the investigation.

As the Washington Examiner reports, Wallace resisted the final determination and, instead, doubled down on the notion the object was racially charged.
“I’ve been racing all of my life. We’ve raced out of hundreds of garages that never had garage pulls like that. So, people that want to call it a garage pull and put out all the videos and photos of knots as their evidence, go ahead. But from the evidence that we have, that I have, it’s a straight-up noose,” Wallace said during an interview on Tuesday with CNN’s Don Lemon.
As the FBI reported, later confirmed by Fox News and the Wall Street Journal, the garage door rope was tied months earlier.
“Whether tied in 2019, or whatever, it was a noose. So, it wasn’t directed at me, but somebody tied a noose,” he admitted.
"I've been racing all of my life, we've raced out of hundreds of garages that never had garage pulls like that. … It's a straight up noose."

As Twitchy reports, the situation in Santa Clarita was similarly mischaracterized as having racial overtones.
After it was reported a “noose” was found in a tree near an elementary school, Mayor Cameron Smyth said he was “aware” of the situation and called for an investigation into it.
“I am aware of the report of a noose being found in our community. @SCVSHERIFF has been notified and an investigation is underway,” he tweeted.
“Hate like this has NO place in our community and whoever is responsible must be prosecuted. If you have any information, please report to LASD,” he added.

But, as Twitchy reports, upon closer inspection, the rope was not a noose and was just a dock line.

A noose was found near Northbridge Park off of Grandview Drive in Santa Clarita last night.
