President Trump is going after those protesters that are tearing down statues.

In recent weeks, many protesters have gathered in cities across the country to topple Confederate icons, and statues of U.S. presidents and even an abolitionist.

Trump’s seen enough and is now taking action.

“I just had the privilege of signing a very strong Executive Order protecting American Monuments, Memorials, and Statues – and combatting recent Criminal Violence. Long prison terms for these lawless acts against our Great Country!” Trump tweeted Friday.

The president also tweeted a shortlist of people that have already been arrested for tampering with or destroying the statues.

“MANY people in custody, with many others being sought for Vandalization of Federal Property in Lafayette Park. 10-year prison sentences!”

The Western Journal reports the White House announced Trump signed an executive order on Friday “that ensures that any person or group that destroys or vandalizes a monument, memorial, or statue would be prosecuted to the fullest extent under the law.”

The order also targets “those who incite violence and illegal activity.”

Trump’s order did not only go after criminals responsible for tearing down statues, but those state and local governments that allow these protesters to continue destructive behavior.

It states: “State and local law enforcement agencies that fail to protect monuments, memorials, and statues will be subject to the withholding of federal support.”

“They’re tearing down statues, desecrating monuments, and purging dissenters,” Trump said shortly after signing the order. “It’s not the behavior of a peaceful political movement; it’s the behavior of totalitarians and tyrants and people that don’t love our country.”

White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany similarly released a statement that said the Trump administration stands against the ideology of those toppling statues.

“Rioters, arsonists, and left-wing extremists have sought to advance an ideology that paints the United States of America as fundamentally unjust and have sought to impose that ideology on Americans through violence and mob intimidation,” she said via the Western Journal.

McEnany continued: “They have led riots in the streets, burned police vehicles, killed and assaulted government officers and business owners defending their property, and even seized an area within one city where law and order has given way completely to anarchy. These criminal acts are frequently planned and supported by agitators who have traveled across state lines to promote their own violent agenda.”

“The latest targets in the violent extremists’ campaign against our country are public monuments, memorials, and statues,” she also said. “Many of their targets show that they are ignorant of our history and seek nothing more than to destroy anything that honors our past and to erase from the public mind any suggestion that our past may be worth honoring.”
