FAKE NEWS ALERT: CNN Analyst Admits He Made Up Incriminating Convo Between ‘GOP Senators’

CNN often prides itself as a facts-first news organization: reliable, informative, timely, and “The Most Trusted Name in News.”

But, despite the slogan, one of their analysts, former Clinton administration press secretary Joe Lockhart, took to Twitter with some of the fakest news the platform has ever seen.

Lockhart reported he “overheard [a] convo between two Republican Senators who only watch Fox News,” describing them to being jaw-dropped by the evidence that Democrats were bringing against President Trump in the Senate impeachment trial.

“Is this stuff real? I haven’t heard any of this before,” Lockhart reports the unidentified member said. “I thought it was all about a server. If half the stuff Schiff is saying is true, we’re up shit’s creek. Hope the White House has exculpatory evidence.”

But, it was ALL fake, Lockhart eventually admitted.

Lockhart’s stunning lie seems to give a whole new meaning to the phrase “CNN is fake news.” As does the fact that, despite this made-up conversation being a malicious lie and smear equivalent to the lies CNN told last year about Covington Catholic High School student Nick Sandmann, the tweet remained active as of Thursday morning.

More notable still is the total silence from CNN chief media correspondent Brian Stelter, who purports to be a watchdog for the media but invariably acts only as a watchdog for conservative and non-establishment media, particularly Fox News.

It’s especially telling given Stelter’s obsession with so-called “disinformation” and “misinformation,” both of which he’s falsely attributed solely to non-establishment media.

Here’s how some people responded to the fake tweet:
