‘No Respect’: People Crush Beyonce & Jay-Z For Sitting During The Super Bowl National Anthem

Celebrity music icons Jay-Z and Beyonce did not perform for Super Bowl LIV’s halftime show, but they did attend the game and caused a stir when they decided to sit during the playing of the National Anthem.

“Beyonce and Jay-Z were spotted sitting down during the Super Bowl’s national anthem despite the rapper defending his controversial partnership with the NFL over with Colin Kaepernick kneeling saga,” Daily Mail reports.

TMZ Sports uploaded a video catching the two stars and their daughter remaining in their seats as performing artist Demi Lovato sang the National Anthem.

Neither of the stars issued a statement as to why they remained in their seats, but as BizPac Review reports they previously backed former NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick and his National Anthem protests.

“Colin took action with no fear of consequence or repercussion — only hope to change the world for the better, to change perception, to change the way we treat each other – especially people of color,” Beyonce said in a statement in 2017.

Despite their celebrity fame, several people online criticized the duo for the unpatriotic decision.

BizPac Review reports this is not the first time Beyonce is being criticized for a Super Bowl appearance as she used her own halftime performance in 2016 to showcase a number of policial references.

The performance was described as “anti-police” by former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

“I think it was outrageous,” Giuliani said to Fox News in 2016. “It was terrible. This is football, not Hollywood. I thought it was really outrageous that she used it as a platform to attack police officers who are the people who protect her and protect us.”
