Ilhan Omar Praises Trump’s ‘Incredible’ Plan: ‘We Should Never Let Politics Get In The Way Of Good Policy’

Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar paid a rare compliment to President Trump on Wednesday, calling his most recent action “incredible.”

“Politics aside, this is incredible and the right response in this critical time,” she said on Twitter.

The comment came after Trump said he would be suspending mortgage foreclosures and evictions for homeowners.

Among the proposals to mitigate the economic fallout of the pandemic, Trump is considering sending checks to millions of people in the United States as early as April.

Trump said on Wednesday that the Department of Housing and Urban Development will suspend foreclosures and evictions for mortgages insured by the Federal Housing Administration until the end of April. The Federal Housing Finance Agency also ordered Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to suspend foreclosures and evictions for any single-family mortgages for “at least 60 days.”

ABC News reports President Trump said the United States would see a “total victory” in the fight against the coronavirus.

“We’ll be invoking the Defense Production Act, just in case we need it. In other words — I think you will know what it is — and it can do a lot of good things if we need it, and we will have it all completed, signing it in just a little while, right after I’m finished with this conference. I’ll be signing it,” Trump said, referencing the authority of a president to require businesses to meet the needs for national defense.

“We are sending, upon request, the two hospital ships,” the president continued. “They are being prepared right now. They are massive ships. They’re the big white ships with the red cross on the sides. One is called the Mercy and the other is called the Comfort. And they are in tip-top shape.”

“Now it’s our time. We must sacrifice together, because we are all in this together, and we will come through together. It’s the invisible enemy. That’s always the toughest enemy,” Trump added. “But we are going to defeat the invisible enemy. I think we are going to do it even faster than we thought, and it’ll be a complete victory. It’ll be a total victory.”
