Joe Biden Announces ‘Shadow Coronavirus Briefings’ To Counter Trump, Gets Crushed

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden wants to launch his own series of briefings where he will directly address Americans during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Trump has been giving daily briefings to address the country on the latest coronavirus developments and what actions the federal government was taking to help alleviate its economic impact.

As Politico reports, Biden shared the “shadow briefing” will allow him to “show how he would handle the crisis and address what he calls the lies and failures of President Trump.”

“President Trump, stop saying false things, will ya?” Biden told the group of reporters. “People are worried they are really frightened when these things don’t come through. He just exacerbates their concern. Stop saying false things you think make you sound like a hero and start putting the full weight of the federal government behind finding fast, safe and effective treatments.”

The former vice president, who is likely to square up against Trump in the general election later this year, continued his remarks on Twitter.

“In times of crisis, the American people deserve a president who tells them the truth and takes responsibility. Donald Trump has not been that president,” Biden said in a series of tweets. “For months, he falsely told us we had nothing to worry about while praising China’s response for managing the coronavirus.”

“Now he’s switched to falsely telling us that he’s taking action that he has not taken, and promising results that he’s not delivering. People are scared. They’re frightened,” Biden continued. “And their president is just exacerbating their concerns.”

The Democratic front-runner accused Trump of being “behind the curve throughout this whole response.”

“He’s talking about yesterday rather than where we need to be tomorrow,” Biden concluded. “The president needs to stop talking and start rallying government action with the urgency and ambition this moment demands.”

Here’s more from Politico:

Biden made his comments from his home in Wilmington, Delaware, where he has been holed up for more than a week in adherence with Centers for Disease Control guidelines that urge people to practice social distancing.

Immediately after the initial onset of the crisis, Biden also held his fire against the president out of concern it would look too political — an accusation leveled at him anyway by Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale, who said that “Biden will take attention from real updates Americans should know just to score political points.”

Ever since his commanding victories Tuesday against Bernie Sanders in Florida, Illinois and Arizona, Biden has made no public appearances or statements.

As Twitchy reports, several people crushed the idea of the shadow briefings. Several people said they did not want Biden distracting the American public or confusing them by saying actions the federal should take versus what they are actually doing:
