Dems Blocked Funds From Helping Americans, Feinstein Pitches Helping Iran Instead

Democrats in the Senate stood in the way of Republicans passing a one-page extension for the Paycheck Protection Program, an initiative that would have resupplied hundreds of billions of dollars to small businesses across the United States.

Democrats argued there was no evidence these companies need any more money. Instead, California Senator Dianne Feinstein has an idea for where the money should go: Iran.

The country that regularly cheers “Death to America” and “Death to Israel” is wanting humanitarian aid to combat the coronavirus pandemic.

“Providing these funds to Iran would help it respond more effectively to the disease and mitigate the risk of further destabilization in the region,” the California senator said in a letter written to President Trump.

“As of today, Iran had about 65,000 positive cases of COVID-19 and had lost 4,000 people to the disease, according to the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus Resource Center,” she continued.

Feinstein continued: “I am increasingly concerned that Iran is now contributing to the potential for an even greater spread of this disease within the region as immigrants flee for their home countries, including Afghanistan. This portends additional challenges for U.S. and coalition forces there who work alongside their Afghan counterparts.”

The California senator shared the letter online, summarizing it in a tweet that requested Trump to send them support.

“The coronavirus has hit Iran hard, with the potential for even greater spread in the region. In the interest of international security, President Trump should support Iran’s request to the IMF for emergency funds to contain this virus,” Feinstein tweeted.

Republican Senator Ted Cruz quickly snapped back, noting they stopped money from helping Americans.

“The Ayatollah leads chants of ‘death to America.’ He pledges to destroy America, which he calls ‘the Great Satan.’ And Senate Dems want to send him millions???” Cruz tweeted. “At the EXACT SAME TIME, Senate Dems are blocking desperately need relief to small businesses in America.”

Several others piled on Feinstein and her Democratic colleagues for prioritizing relief to Iran over Americans.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell renewed his calls for passage of the Paycheck Protection Program in a tweet on Saturday morning.

“There is no excuse for a lack of urgency. American jobs are literally at stake,” he tweeted.
