CNN reporter Omar Jimenez and his camera crew have been released by the Minneapolis police department after they were initially arrested while covering the riots early on Friday morning.

According to reports and later confirmation from CNN, Jimenez and his crew were out on the streets covering the destruction and damage caused by rioters overnight (protesting the death of George Floyd) when they were arrested around 5:00 a.m. local time.

The arrests happened live on-air as law enforcement confused them with the rioters.
