If a newly surfaced video showed President Trump call United States military service members “stupid bastards” then mainstream media would be covering the story in every time bloc, for days on end, up until the very minute voter polls open in November.
They would undoubtedly be repeating the clip at every opportunity and would invite on guests to criticize him.
But, if a newly surfaced clip showed Democratic nominee Joe Biden say the exact same thing, they would not dare touch the story.
Because that just happened.
The Washington Examiner reports that in a newly surfaced clip from March 7, 2016, Biden can be seen calling U.S. troops “stupid bastards” and urging they clap for his joke.

During the speech at an airbase in Abu Dhabi, the then-vice president also said the group of active troops “must be slow” and are “dull” for not responding to his standards.
“I have incredibly good judgment,” Biden can be seen saying in the video, before his sarcastic comment. “One, I married Jill, and two, I appointed Johnson to the academy. I just want you to know that. Clap for that, you stupid bastards.”

The Washington Examiner reports Biden, in the same speech, also praised the troops in attendance as “the finest generation of warriors the world has ever, ever known.”
“Thank you very, very, very much,” he added at the time.
According to the report, the Biden campaign released a statement saying the comments were made in a joking manner.
“Vice President Biden was jokingly encouraging the audience to clap for an airwoman on the stage, and a number of service members can be seen laughing and smiling at the comment,” Biden campaign rapid response director Andrew Bates said to the Washington Examiner.
“Seconds before, he praised them for ‘the incredible sacrifices [they] make for our country.’ He thanked them for their patriotism and courage throughout, and closed his remarks by saying, ‘you’re the finest generation of warriors the world has ever, ever known’ – receiving an enthusiastic ovation.”
The story re-surfaced on Friday afternoon, the Examiner reports, shortly after a report surfaced that Trump previously spoke critically of the military.
Here’s more, from the report:
Joe and Jill Biden spoke to the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing on March 7, 2016, in Southeast Asia.
The video comes weeks after President Trump was criticized by anonymous sources in an article in the Atlantic for allegedly calling American soldiers who were killed in action “losers” and “suckers.”
Biden immediately ran a campaign ad after the story broke slamming the president over the reporting that was refuted by at least 21 on-the-record sources.
“Mr. President, if you don’t respect our troops, you can’t lead them.” Biden tweeted along with the ad.
