Fox News has praised the performance of Chris Wallace, who moderated the first presidential debate between President Trump and challenger Joe Biden.
The Hill’s Joe Concha posted a statement from Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott and President Jay Wallace, which praised Wallace’s handling of the candidates and his “professionalism.”
The duo claims: “No moderator could have managed a debate of that magnitude better than Chris.”
“Dear Colleagues,” the letter reads, “We’d like to take a moment to thank and congratulate Chris Wallace for moderating last night’s extraordinary debate.”
“We are extremely proud of his professionalism, skill and fortitude in a unique situation while doing everything possible to hold both candidates accountable,” the two continued in their letter.
“Equally impressive was the flawless execution of our debate coverage across all FOX News Media platforms along with our network pool responsibilities. Bret, Martha, Tucker, Sean, Laura, and Shannon led our pre and post-debate programs with the most informative, insightful, and compelling coverage on television. Our talented field operations, production, and security teams made all of this possible. There are too many individuals to single out and the list is long of the staff who did outstanding work in challenging circumstances,” they added.
“More Americans watched FOX News Channel last night than any other network on broadcast or cable with 17.8 million viewers tuning — shattering records as the highest-rated presidential commission debate in cable news history,” Scott and Jay Wallace said.
