‘We’re All Human’: Obamas Respond To Trump’s Diagnosis

President Trump announced on Friday just after midnight that he and First Lady Melania Trump tested positive for the coronavirus.

The announcement sent shockwaves across the country as many of his supporters wished him well and many of his vilest critics—some of which spent all week demanding Trump condemn hate groups—vocalized they hoped the worst for the president and his wife.

Former President Obama, certainly no fan of the president’s policies, also responded in a pair of tweets and a video.

In a pair of tweets, the Obamas put their politics aside and took the high road in wishing the current president well.

“Michelle and I hope that the President, First Lady, and all those affected by the coronavirus around the country are getting the care they need and are on the path to a speedy recovery,” Obama tweeted.

He also encouraged the president’s critics to remember that they are “all human beings” and deserve to show decency.

“Obviously, we’re in the midst of a big political battle right now, and while there’s a lot at stake, let’s remember that we’re all Americans. We’re all human beings. And we want everyone to be healthy, no matter our party,” the former president added.
