Dr. Jill Biden, the wife of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, defended her husband’s immigration policy proposals and said migrant-child separations would be discontinued under his administration.
The use of cages at the border to detain migrants adults and children has been a major talking point of the Left and it is being repeated just days before the presidential election.
Speaking with “The View,” Biden said: “There would be no separation of families at the border” should her husband win the election.
She also said she personally visited one of the detention centers during the holiday season last year where she served meals to the “thousands of people that were there.”
“As a mother, it breaks my heart,” Biden added. “I can’t even imagine it.”

While the comments were undoubtedly intended to make Trump and his immigration policies look bad, Obama’s immigration chief Thomas Homan clarified last year that it was Obama who built the cages and enacted the policy that the Trump administration was continuing.
The Washington Examiner reports in June of last year, Homan said: “I’ve been to that facility, where they talk about cages. That facility was built under President Obama under (Homeland Security) Secretary Jeh Johnson. I was there because I was there when it was built.”
According to the report, the housing facilities that the Left refers to as “cages” are the very same Obama used during his time in office — and while Biden served as the vice president:
Homan, who ran Obama’s successful deportation operation, ripped Democrats who question Trump immigration officials on the Obama-era idea.

He cited one Democratic chairman who asked a Trump official, “You still keeping kids in cages?”
Homan, at the conference hosted by the Center for Immigration Studies, said, “I would answer the question, ‘The kids are being house in the same facility built under the Obama administration.’ If you want to call them cages, call them cages. But if the left wants to call them cages and the Democrats want to call them cages then they have to accept the fact that they were built and funded in FY 2015.”
He said that the Border Patrol facilities where all illegals are initially kept “were not built to take care of children.” In fact, the recent surge of younger illegal immigrants is a new trend.
Homan also specifically addressed the use of chain-link fencing and said it is used to keep the children safe from unrelated adults.
“It’s chain-link dividers that keep children separate from unrelated adults. It’s about protecting children,” he said.
