Twice failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has said the very idea of President Trump winning his re-election effort makes her “literally sick.”
During a recent podcast interview just one week before the Nov. 3 election, Clinton, who lost to Trump in 2016, said she believed most Republicans are “cowards [and] spineless enablers” of the president.
As the Daily Wire reports, Clinton told podcast host Kara Swisher on Sunday that she “can’t entertain the idea of him winning.”
“It would cause cognitive dissonance of a grave degree,” she added.
“[I]t makes me literally sick to my stomach to think that we’d have four more years of this abuse and destruction of our institutions,” the Democrat also said. “And damaging of our norms and our values. And lessening of our leadership. And the list goes on.”
Clinton told Swisher that she believed Trump would not win, though, as “most Republicans are going to want to close the page” on him and “want to see him gone as much as we do, but they can’t say it publicly.”
The two then turned their attention to Trump’s handling of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic and what it could mean for his re-election chances.
“You noted that a lot of countries that did best in the pandemic were led by women. Do you think a woman president in the United States would handle the pandemic better?” Swisher asked her guest.
“I have no doubt, especially if it were me,” Clinton confidently answered. “I have no doubt. I mean, I was born for that.”
The two also discussed Trump’s frequent criticism of Clinton and how his rally attendees often break out into “Lock her up” chants, a line supporters have also used on former FBI Director James Comey, Joe Biden, and others.
“Would you say ‘lock him up?’” Swisher asked.
“No, I would never say that,” Clinton responded, adding, “I believe in the rule of law, unlike some of these people. I think I live rent-free in his head.”
