Gina Carano Gets Cancelled By Disney, Immediately Gets Job Offer From Conservatives

Actress Gina Carano, known for her role as Cara Dune in Disney’s “The Mandalorian,” was fired this week by the company after she shared a number of disparaging comments about liberals in the United States.

In a social media post on Instagram, Carano likened the Nazi party in Germany to the rise of liberalism in the U.S. And, in the same post, Carano said conservatives were being treated as Jewish people were treated by the Nazi party.

The comments were ultimately flagged by the platform and resulted in Disney announcing on Wednesday that Carano was no longer an employee of the company.

In a statement, Disney said the comments were “denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities” and said the posts were “abhorrent” and “unacceptable.”

CNBC reports the comments were the latest in a string of incidents involving Carano:

The comment was just the latest social media controversy Carano has faced in recent months. She had previously shared misinformation about mask wearing and voter fraud and made light of people who include their preferred pronouns on social media by adding “beep/bop/boop” to her Twitter bio.

Carano later removed those words after she said she spoke with co-star Pedro Pascal.

“He helped me understand why people were putting them in their bios,” she wrote. “I didn’t know before but I do now. I won’t be putting them in my bio but good for all you who choose to.”

Immediately after the firing, conservatives vocalized their support for Carano with Republican Senator Ted Cruz describing his fellow Texan as “a woman who kicked a**.”

“Texan Gina Carano broke barriers in the ‘Star Wars’ universe: not a princess, not a victim, not some emotionally tortured Jedi. She played a woman who kicked ass [and] who girls looked up to,” he tweeted. “She was instrumental in making ‘Star Wars’ fun again. Of course, Disney canceled her.”

While Disney tried to cancel the actress, conservatives rallied behind to “uncancel her.”

Daily Wire Editor-in-Chief Ben Shapiro also supported Carano, ultimately announcing a new partnership between her and Dallas Sonnier’s production company — who maintains a partnership with the Daily Wire.

“We’re looking forward to taking on the authoritarian Hollywood monolith,” Shapiro said Friday via the Los Angeles Times. “It’s no secret that Hollywood is a one-party town, and that dissent is not just discouraged but punished. We’re building the alternative, and we’d just like to thank Disney and Lucasfilm for aiding us in our quest to do so.”

Shapiro added:

Republicans won’t win anybody over by simply disengaging. We need those who aren’t political to engage with a different sort of content: content that is edgy and entertaining and awesome, but that doesn’t actively work to undermine the very values that have made this country exceptional. We need to give people options.

So Daily Wire will, in 2021, be jumping into the world of entertainment content. We’re going to be bringing out movies — edgy, entertaining, awesome movies that won’t mock your values. We’re going to be producing TV shows — comedies and dramas that take you seriously, and that don’t take advantage of your viewership to promote Leftist causes.

And, according to the actress, “This is just the beginning.”

“Welcome to the rebellion,” she added in a tweet on Friday.
