Joe Biden said he plans to run for reelection in 2024 with Vice President Kamala Harris, according to Politico.
“The answer is yes, my plan is to run for reelection,” Biden said. “That’s my expectation.”
Biden commended Harris for the work she has accomplished so far.
“I would fully expect that to be the case,” he said. “She’s doing a great job. She’s a great partner.”
Biden announced Harris’ over seeing the border crisis.
There is potential for a 2024 Trump challenge. Biden said he had “no idea” what the field would look like.
“I have no idea if there will be a Republican Party. Do you?”
Trump has teased and hinted at a possible 2024 presidential rerun.
However, Trump has made clear that his focus is on taking back control of Congress in the upcoming midterm elections.
“Who knows? I may even decide to beat them for a third time,” Trump said.
Conservatives are concrned regarding Bidens stamina and mental acuity.
Biden is 78 years old and is the oldest PResident the U.S. has ever seen.
Early on in his presidential campaign Biden hinted at the possibility of considering serving only a single term or even making a one-term pledge.
More recently Biden said, “I don’t have any plans on one term.”
“I’ve never been able to plan four and a half, three and a half years ahead for certain,” he said.
In January, aides said that Biden was invigorated by his victory, having finally reached the Oval Office after first mulling a presidential run in 1980.
Biden, however, also hedged against the possibility of a 2024 run on Thursday, saying that he was “a great respecter of fate.”
