Jussie Smollett’s lawyers want the disgraced actor immediately released from jail.
After he entered the jail system, Smollett’s siblings say they have been “bombarded” with disturbing phone calls.
His family claims they are the target of “vicious threats,” including a phone call that alluded to a disturbing case of a sodomized New York City man.
A voice on the phone allegedly said, “I hope what they do to that guy in jail — here’s what they’re going to do, right.”
“They’re going to take a broom handle, and take that little [expletive], shove it in there, and he’s gonna go, ‘[shrieking sound],’” a man was heard saying.
The call was recorded by the actor’s team. Smollett’s legal team filed the emergency motion on Monday.
The motion asks the court to postpone his five-month sentence at Chicago’s Cook County Jail. The filing also argues Smollett’s life is at risk.
Convicted felon Jussie Smollett was sentenced to thirty months felony probation, restitution to the city of Chicago in the amount of $120,106, a fine of $25,000, and 150 days in the Cook County Jail.
Despite receiving jail time and massive fines, left-wing actor and convicted felon Jussie Smollett proceeded to rant in court about his innocence. Smollett claims he was sentenced to jail as a result of homophobia and racism in the U.S. justice system.
This case is “more evidence of systemic racism in the judicial system,” the actor said. In an interview with TMZ, Jussie Smollett the reason he was sent to jail is “because he’s black.”
In reality, a 12-person jury unanimously found him guilty in the face of overwhelming and undeniable evidence.
The crazed leftist plotted fake racist and homophobic assault against himself, then proceed to lie to police and create a false police report.
The politically-motivated stunt was an attack on Republicans and Donald Trump supporters shortly before the 2020 election year. He falsely claimed that he was assaulted by two people he described as white men wearing “Make America Great Again” hats.
Critics say Smollett is putting on an act until the curtain drops or, in this case, the cell door closes. Watch Smollett directly talk back to the judge:
Smollett’s defense team was by lead defense attorney Nenye Uche. They tried to get the conviction thrown out by pointing out what they allege was a bevy of “flagrant errors.” However, this argument from Smollett’s defense team failed miserably.
A number of people spoke out on behalf of the left-wing actor. His older brother, Jojo Smollett, pleaded to the court that his brother had already dealt with enough punishment by “Empire” being “ripped away from him before he was even charged.”
Family members also described the “anxiety” that Smollett has been suffered through with the “pseudo house arrest.”
Smollett’s grandmother, Molly Smollett, 92, also took the witness stand and attacked the media by claiming journalists aren’t doing sufficient investigative reporting.
