Shooter Jennings, son of Waylon Jennings, has discovered a collection of unreleased music by his late father and plans to release it in a new album in 2025.

The found recordings dating back to the 70s and 80s showcase an extensive historical documentation of Waylon Jennings and his band’s passion for music.

“When I was young, in the house that I grew up in, there was a room that was always locked. The ‘storage room’ is what my parents call it,” Shooter wrote. “I have vivid memories of dozens of grey boxes in cubby holes with notes jotted in marker on the outside. I knew what was in those boxes was my dad’s work.”

“What I expected to find was a catalog of all of my dad’s albums and recordings,” Shooter said. “I knew there were a few songs that were never released, for whatever reasons, so I had my fingers crossed that I would maybe find something special and rare along the way that I could share with you.”

Shooter expresses excitement about sharing this treasure trove of fully produced, unheard tracks that will offer fans a glimpse into his father’s musical legacy.

“What I found was massive historical documentation of a man and a band with an incredible friendship, work ethic and deep passion for playing and recording music,” he added. “What I found was way beyond my wildest fantasies.”

“I’m in possession of a treasure trove of previously unheard full band Waylon Jennings multi-track recording from the 70’s and early 80’s and I have begun preparing the material to be mixed,” Shooter wrote.

“These are not demos. These are not unfinished, but, they will take some time to explore, prepare, and mix,” he added. “You’ve got something to look forward to – there will be new, classic Waylon Jennings music in 2025. Stay tuned.”
