Former Deputy Assistant Attorney General John Yoo suggested that Republicans should counter Democrats by initiating prosecution against figures like Hunter Biden or Joe Biden for perceived wrongdoings, mirroring tactics used by Democrats against Trump.
Legal expert Jonathan Turley criticized the guilty verdict in Trump’s hush money trial, citing procedural and constitutional flaws that may lead to a reversal.
Meanwhile, there has been a notable shift in Trump’s favor as he gains popularity in unexpected regions, evident through a successful fundraiser in California.
“This is what it would look like. You would have to have Republican DAs indict Hunter Biden or indict Joe Biden just in the way that blue state DAs have been indicting President Trump. And wouldn’t be for federal crimes — it would be for things like corruption, fraud, bribery, because that’s the only way I think you can get Democrats to stop abusing the legal system, to stop breaking the norms that they have,” Yoo said.
“I was listening to your introduction to the segment and look, the Democrats are so scared because they have broken all of these rules. They have crossed the Rubicon and now they are worried because once they’ve destroyed these norms in the way they’ve gone Trump, they realized Republicans can turn around and do the exact same thing to them,” he added.
Venture capitalist David Sacks endorsed Trump for a potential future presidency, citing Biden’s economic, foreign policy, border, and legal fairness missteps as reasons behind his support.
“I think the level of reversible error here really is quite considerable. It runs the waterfront of procedural to constitutional problems, including federal constitutional violations,” Turley said. “I don’t even see how you can meet the unanimity requirement in the way that this thing was instructed.”
“Yeah, they were unanimous that some crime was committed on the secondary crime, but it’s apparently between the jurors and God as to what that crime was unless there is going to be some release of a jury form. We have not seen that jury form,” he added.
“I think that, in the end, we were going to have a reversal. I’m fairly confident of that. Now, in the New York appellate system, they have a rule for Trump. They are very good lawyers in the New York system and credible people who want the system to work the way it is designed,” Turley said. “I am eternally an optimist. I was an optimist about a hung jury. And I’m an optimist now about the appellate judges.
“I think at some point, people will step forward and say enough. You know, hating this man is not enough to forget the lack of the evidence. And once again, I do not blame this jury. They were given instructions that made it very easy to convict. And some of them might not have seen a real option not to, given how low these standards seem,” he added.
