Former President Donald Trump is leading Vice President Kamala Harris in 13 national polls released in July, suggesting that she may face similar challenges as President Joe Biden would have in a head-to-head matchup against Trump.
Harris’s favorability rating is slightly lower than Biden’s, and Trump has claimed that she would be an easier candidate to defeat. These polls contradict an internal survey from former Obama pollster Fernand Amandi, which showed Harris leading Trump by one point.
The situation follows Biden’s withdrawal from the Democratic race, influenced by pressures from prominent Democrats, including Barack Obama and other party leaders, who reportedly aimed to prevent an uncontested nomination for Harris.
