A recent poll by Fox News has revealed that 66% of voters are in favor of mass deportations of undocumented immigrants. The shift marks a 15-point rise since 2015, with notable support from nonwhite voters, who have increased their backing by a staggering 24 points.
The shift is great news for former President Donald Trump, who has consistently campaigned on his promise to deport illegal immigrants.
“If President Trump gets re-elected, the border is going to be sealed; the military will be deployed; the National Guard will be activated and the illegals are going home,” former Trump immigration policy advisor Stephen Miller said.
Support has also risen among urban voters (+19), men (+16), and Democrats (+8).
Conversely, the percentage of voters favoring the retention of illegal immigrants with jobs has decreased to 58%, down 4 points from last year.
The turnaround in public opinion has been partly attributed to Governor Greg Abbott’s bussing program, which has brought immigration issues to the forefront in multiple urban areas.
“You put one wrong person onto a bus or onto an airplane and your radical left lunatics will try and make it sound like it’s the worst thing that’s ever happened,” Trump said previously. “But we’re getting the criminals out. And we’re going to do that fast.”
