Walt Disney Company’s senior vice president, Michael Giordano, was confronted by James O’Keefe after being captured in an undercover video alleging discrimination against white men in Disney’s hiring practices.
In the video, Giordano claimed that the corporation favored non-white individuals for promotions and used euphemistic terms to avoid legal repercussions.
“The Walt Disney Senior Vice President Michael Giordano is confronted by James O’Keefe and @OKeefeMedia after uncovering @Disney‘s discriminatory hiring practices…Caught off guard, Giordano fled to his car with O’Keefe tailing him,” O’Keefe posted on X.
“The scene at Sunset Plaza didn’t go unnoticed — Hollywood influencers @xhuddy, Chiara Hovland, and Nick Higham, who witnessed the entire incident, praised OMG for ‘Saving the city’ and pledged to check out O’Keefe Media Group,” he added.
The incident drew attention as O’Keefe confronted Giordano in a restaurant, leading to a chase captured on camera.
The controversy highlighted allegations of discriminatory practices at Disney and the use of biased hiring criteria.
“I have friends in HR and I have friends in other divisions. And they’re like, ‘Look, nobody else is going to tell you this, Mike, but they’re not considering any white males for the job,’” Giordano told a journalist.
“As far as Disney is concerned, I am a white male and that’s not who they’re looking to promote at the moment,” he added.
“We wanted to hire somebody in the department … who was half black but didn’t like, appear half black and there was a creative executive who was like ‘We’re not, like, that’s not, that’s not what’s wanted,’” Giordano said. “They wanted somebody in meetings who would appear a certain way and he wasn’t gonna bring that to the meeting.”
