At a recent rally, Vice President Kamala Harris ridiculed two pro-life demonstrators who interrupted her speech on abortion rights by shouting “Jesus is Lord.” She also chose to skip the Al Smith Memorial, leading to widespread backlash.
She suggested they were at the wrong event, and referenced a nearby Trump rally.
“Oh, you guys are at the wrong rally,” Harris said. “I think you meant to go to the smaller one down the street.”
The protesters were later identified as Lacrosse University students.
The incident followed Harris’ decision to skip a prominent Catholic charity dinner.
“This year will be imbalanced because sadly, Kamala Harris isn’t coming,” New York Archbishop Timothy Dolan said. “It’s a shame because the nature of the evening is to bring people together. The nature of the evening is civility, patriotism, humor. It’s not a campaign speech. It’s not a campaign stop.”
Former President Donald Trump attended the dinner, and made sure to slam Harris’ absence.
“Instead of attending tonight, she is in Michigan receiving Communion from Gretchen Whitmer,” Trump said.
“If you really wanted Vice President Harris to accept your invitation, I guess you should have told her the funds were going to bail out the looters and rioters in Minneapolis, and she would have been here, guaranteed. She would have been guaranteed,” Trump quipped.
“I must say I was shocked when I heard that Kamala was skipping the Al Smith dinner. I’d really hoped that you would come, because we can’t get enough of hearing her beautiful laugh. She laughs like crazy,” Trump said.
