Liberty University offensive lineman Tajh Boyd has died unexpectedly at 19. No cause of death has yet been revealed.
Flames head football coach Jamey Chadwell and athletics director Ian McCaw released a joint statement that reads: “It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the loss of one of our student-athletes, Tajh Boyd.”
“Tajh joined our Liberty Football family as recently as January and his impact on the program will be felt for years to come,” reads the letter.

The NCAA league also released a statement on Boyd’s death that said: “We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of @LibertyFootball student-athlete Tajh Boyd.”

“Our thoughts are with the Boyd family and Flames nation during this difficult time,” the statement added.
Boyd was a freshman at Liberty and former standout player at Oscar Smith High School in Chesapeake, Virginia.
He was reportedly a three-star recruit and won two state championships before committing to Liberty.
