BBC presenter Justin Webb has accused the White House of concealing President Joe Biden’s mental and physical decline, suggesting that the Democratic Party has misled the American public about his condition.
Webb stated that both the party and those monitoring the White House were aware of Biden’s decline but chose not to disclose it.
“They knew that he was in decline, and other people who monitored the White House knew that he was in decline, but all of them decided not to tell the American people,” Webb said.
He expressed concern for Vice President Kamala Harris, who is being portrayed by the Trump campaign as an enabler of Biden’s perceived inadequacies.
“And the problem for Kamala Harris is, of course, she was there when all of this was going on, and already the Trump campaign are labelling her, trying to put her into the position of being one of the enablers of Joe Biden and one of the enablers of the myth that he was capable of carrying on,” Webb said.
“What was going on behind the scenes was a cover-up, and there’s no question at all about it,” Webb added.
Concerns about Biden’s mental fitness have been prominent, especially following a poor debate performance against Trump.
Reports indicate that Democratic leaders, including former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, have privately acknowledged Biden’s difficulties, yet the White House has consistently claimed he is in good health.
“It was the first time I remember people pretty jarred by what they had seen,” Congressman Dean Phillips said.
Despite withdrawing from the 2024 election, Biden has stated his intention to complete his term, raising further questions about the state of American leadership until the next president takes office.
