As he stood among the ruins, his eyes welled with tears, and his facial expression carried a mix of determination and empathy. In that moment, he wasn’t just a president; he was a fellow American who felt the weight of the tragedy.
Since then, every president has attended the annual observances in New York City, Pennsylvania and Virginia. Some of these ceremonies are not very far outside Washington, D.C.
Instead, Biden is heading to Alaska for the 9/11 observance at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage.

Firefighters, police officers, medical professionals, and volunteers worked tirelessly at Ground Zero, searching for survivors, recovering remains, and clearing debris. The city’s spirit remained unbroken, but a collective wound was etched into the city’s heart.
